Build a Bear for Kids!
In 2019, McMurray Rotary and Friends came together to build over 100 stuffed bears in honor of Maura’s fight with MPS. Those bears were donated to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to give comfort and spread joy when kids are facing scary injuries, treatments, and conditions.
Now that Maura is strong, we would like to bring joy to other kids in her situation. We are partnering with Build a Bear Workshop for bears and outfits. These bears will be donated to:
- Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
- JoJo’s Hug Project
- And Others
What we need is monetary donations to cover the cost of the bears and outfits! Due to pandemic restrictions- Build a Bear cannot host our large group but will be providing us with the premade bears. We are hoping for lots of purple- the color representing MPS! McMurray Rotary will receive the bears and distribute them to the various organizations to get these to the kids who need them most.
$35.00 covers the cost of one bear and an article of clothing.
Help us reach our goal of 200 bears!
About McMurray Rotary
Rotary is where neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change.
Rotary is an organization of leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs. The world’s Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.
McMurray Rotary Club is the Peters Township-based chapter of Rotary International. We are a part of Rotary District 7305 encompassing Southwestern PA. We support the philanthropic efforts of Rotary International, our District, as well as local causes and programs where we can have an impact. Aside from fundraising, we provide multiple opportunities for members to have an impact in our community via service work, programs in the schools, community initiatives, and more. Rotary is a great way to get involved in your local community while supporting philanthropy on an international level.
At this time, we are only taking monetary donations to build new bears for kids.
